May 8 - HAPPY MOTHERS DAY
The U11 Orange Boys Lacrosse team continued their win streak on Mother's Day with a convincing win over Danvers. The Orange offense was powered with goals by Cole Thomas, Quinn Garry, Chris Burns, Theo Van Alen, Finn O'Connell and Shawn Bilo. The Danvers offense was stymied by the goaltending duo of Nolan Hickey and Ryan Meany. Hickey and Meany made a number of big saves and also played great games as midfielders and attack. Ipswich also had strong performances from attack Nate Kristian, Callum MacLennan and Jimmy Bornstein. Midfielders Sam Magers and Jake Petradelis both had solid all around games offensively and defensively. The Orange look to continue their win streak on Sunday as they trave to Gloucester.
Ipswich Girls U9 @Lynnfield 5/8, Game Recap
Neither rain nor sleet nor Mother's Day dinners could hold the Ipswich U9 Girls' team down this past Mother's Day. The undefeated Ipswich Tigers played with such eagerness and ferocity on the Lynnfield turf that they brought the sun out and a smile to every Ipswich mom present. Goalies Allie Wile and Lia Dillon held the Lynnfield team to one goal, while offensively goals were scored by Abby Allen, Evie Bernard, Lucy Donahue (2), Lyla Greenleaf (2), Reid Johnson, and Allie Wile (3). Ground ball recoveries from Abby Allen and Reid Johnson were too numerous to count and movement of the ball around the crease to a variety of teammates was facilitated most by Lucy Donahue.
Most impressive though was the overall team play from the lady Tigers. Isabelle Garry used her signature speed in the midfield to slow the opposing team, while Lily Cummins, Isabelle Tereso and Camilla Capobianco worked hard to get open as outlets for their teammates. Hadley Blaisdell had another great game defending her player (as well as a couple great ground ball recoveries) and Marlee Lestage remained a positive force on the field, sticking by the opponent defensively. Every girl had a shining moment over the course of the game. It was enough to make even the most rain-soaked mother proud. Go, Tigers!
The Ipswich U11 Black Boys Lacrosse team travelled to West Newbury on Sunday to enjoy a Mother's Day victory over Pentucket of 13 to 5. The scoring for the day was led by Jayson Clapp who had 5 goals playing Middie and Attack, and Hayden Fowler at Middie who fired 3 goals into the net. The balance of the scoring by Ipswich was provided by Nate Baise, Spencer McDavitt, Simon Gosh, Tynan Moses, and Zane Norton each providing one goal a piece.
Some nice assists were also provided throughout the game with two each by Baise and Moses, and one each by Norton, Gosh, and Lucas DeStefano.
The goal was protected for the game by Harry Hildebrand who had many great saves and held back a strong Pentucket offense along with the support of his defenseman Ben Dillon, Braeden Bromby, DeStefano, and offensive players David Keefe, Jacob Putur, and McDavitt who rotated through the defense line up during the game.
Attackmen Brody Bicknell, Baise, Putur, and Keefe, also supported the effort to press against the Pentucket Defense.
This weeks practice will be focused on their next game against Hamilton-Wenham which will be played Sunday on the Ipswich home field at Mile Lane.
