U13 Girls

Under overcast skies the Ipswich U13 Girl Tigers took on the Lynnfield on the turf at Lynnfield high.  It was back and forth from the 1st whistle.  Estelle Gromko scored in the 1st minute driving to the net of the opening draw.  Less than a minute later Lynnfield scored to tie the game.  Estelle rang one off the post before Ipswich rattled off 3 quick goals by Halle Greenleaf, Celina Satter and Halle again. Lynnfield turned up the heat by controlling the ball which led to a score.  Taryn Desmond scored a nice goal on a cut from behind the Lynnfield goal.  Lynnfield scored 3 quick ones to keep things close.  Estelle Gromko scored another goal late in the half before Lynnfield attacked with 2 goals to end the half.  The second half started with an Ipswich penalty for shooting space which resulted in a Lynnfield goal on a free shot.  Lynnfield netted another one before a coast to coast goal by Emory Allen.  Halle Greenleaf scored again and was finally stopped on a free shot by Lynnfield’s strong goalkeeper.  Kassandra Colannino scored the first of her 2 goals follow by a quick Lynnfield goal to keep it interesting.  Lynnfield had an opportunity on a fast break that was denied after an unbelievable show of speed by Tess O’Flynn who caught up to a breaking Midfielder. Lynnfield could not be denied long, they scored 4 answered goals as time was winding down in this epic battle.  Ipswich had a chance to put the pressure back on when Faith Hauenstein had what looked like a goal but was waved off.  Kassandra Colannino scored her 2nd of the day follow by a Lynnfield goal with less than 2 minutes left in the game.  Off the draw the Ipswich girls gained possession off a tough battle for the ground ball.  The Tigers worked the ball Estelle Gromko and she netted her 5th goal of the day with time running out.  The game was kept close by some great goaltending by Linh Nelson who played her 1st game in net.

U9 Girls

Wow! What a game the U9 Ipswich girls played this Sunday against their strongest opponent yet, a fierce Hamilton-Wenham team. Hazel Cormier, did a great job in goal (her first time ever!) making two saves and allowing only two goals from H-W for a 2-2 score at halftime. Zoe Pincus had three saves with a shutout second half. Great things happened on Ipswich’s offense with Phoebe Allen scoring three, Gracyn Cummins scoring two, Cabot Johnson scoring one, assisting one, and Zoe Pincus scoring one. Assists were also racked up by Isabella Racho (two!) and Natalie Elder. Ella Schofield, Eleanor Corcoran, Maddie Machaiek, Vivian Bodycombe, and Paige Donahue worked hard on offense, cutting for passes while Ella McCarthy continued to use her fierce skills to facilitate play in the midfield along with Elliot Sinausky, Alli Colannino, and Isabel Welenc. Ground balls seemed to make all the difference with Ipswich recovering an astounding 67 ground balls throughout the game! (Thank you to Zach Pincus for counting.) Talk about a team effort! At the halfway point of our season we couldn’t be more proud of these hardworking, skilled athletes.
