Ipswich Youth Lacrosse (IYL)
provides lacrosse instruction and an inter-town game schedules for girls and
boys in grades one through eight each spring. IYL is a member of the Mass Bay
Girls' Lacrosse League (MBGYL) and the Mass Bay Youth Lacrosse League (MBYLL)
(for boys).
There are no tryouts, no all stars
and no playoffs. There are 2 practices days per week and one game per week.
Players that participate in the weekly practices can expect roughly equal
playing time. If teams have large rosters, players that do not participate in
the weekly practices may see their playing time reduced.
Teams are organized by grades. U15
is 7th & 8th grade. U13 is 5th & 6thrd & 4th grade, U9 is 1st
& 2nd grade. If not enough U9 players sign up, those that do will
be given the option to play on the U11 team.
IYL was founded by Blaine Hebbel in
1999 and participated in the first games during the spring 2000 season. IYL
incorporated in 2003 and became a 501(c) 3 organization in 2007.
All adults that assist the IYL are
volunteers. The game day referees are the only paid positions and these are
paid for by IYL and assigned by the MBGYL & MBYLL.
